Snowboards for Sale
Hello and welcome to Arctic Snowboards. With all the different snowboards for sale, finding the right one can be tough. With numerous brands available and all of them claiming their snowboards are the best it can get confusing. It is our hope that the following information will help you when it comes to finding the right board from all snowboards for sale out there.
The first thing you need to figure out is what type of board you are getting for your money. You are looking to spend upwards of $450 for a high end board, around $350 for a med level board and around $200 for an entry level board. Don't focus on the costs too much. There are loads of high level snowboarders that I know who prefer entry level boards because of how they feel. While when I'm on the slopes I lose count of how many people I see with expensive boards who can barely even board. What I'm trying to tell you is the price of the board isn't so important.
Popular advice is to get a board that comes up to around your mouth. The issue with this is your height isn't so important when it comes to snowboards, they don't care how tall you are. Instead your weight is more important. If you are light you won't be wanting a huge board when it comes to making turns. It will just be a lot tougher than it should be. If you are light then the board should be about as tall as your neck, if you are medium weight then you should go for one that measures up to your mouth and if you weigh a lot then it needs to be as tall as your nose or higher.
You need to ensure you don't suffer from toe drag with your board. If you don't know what toe drag is, this is when your boots go over the edge of the board and thus hit the snow when you turn. This isn't ideal. The toes of your boots shouldn't go over the edge. You have a higher level of control over your turns when you don't have toe drag. To make sure you won't have toe drag simply attach your bindings to the board and strap in your boots. Then simply check to make sure the boots don't go past the edge at all.
When trying to find the ideal board out of all the snowboards for sale you need to check how flexible the board is. When you are just starting out with snowboarding you need one with some give, the stiffer it is the more difficult it will be to turn. Snowboards bend in two different ways, longitudinal and torsional, torsional means from side to side while longitudinal means from top to bottom. When it flexes nicely you can turn better. If it doesn't flex enough in this way it will be harder stay on the edge as you turn. The flex from top to bottom needs to be balanced. If the bottom is more flexible than the top then turns will suffer, the same goes if the top is more flexible than the bottom.
You have a choice from tree different kinds of boards. These three kinds include Alpine boards, Freestyle boards and Freeride boards. As you have probably guessed each board is designed for alternate settings. Depending the type of terrain you will be snowboarding on will depend which type of board you should get.
Out of all these kinds of boards the Freeride is the most widely used. Designed for all kinds of terrain the Freeride board has a tail that is slimmer than the nose, this is because it is best ridden in a certain direction. If you are a beginner you will find a Freeride board is a good board to start on, it offers plenty of maneuverability but it is also built strongly enough to take on harsh turns for more experienced boarders.
Freestyle boards are lighter and shorter than Freeride boards. They are also more flexible thanks to being softer and wider, this makes them ideal for turns. Freestyle boards are mainly intended for tricks which makes them an experienced boarders board, although they are good for beginners as well. If you want speed or quick turns then Freestyle boards are not ideal due to their lack of grip.
Alpine boards are designed for speed, this is why they are usually called a race board, they are narrow which makes them ideal for picking up speed on. They are very stable when going quickly and are good for harsh turns, they look like blown up skis in nature. It isn't advised that a beginner use an Alpine board because of their narrowness, although they are perfect for an experienced rider.
